📏 How to Use the Bandito Fence Calculator

Planning your project is easy when you have the right numbers. Follow these four simple steps to determine exactly how many fence panels you’ll need for your property.

1. Measure Your Perimeter

Grab a long measuring tape (or use a GPS mapping tool) and measure the total length of the area you want to fence.

  • Pro Tip: Measure each side of your yard individually and add them together to get your Total Linear Feet.

  • Note: Always measure from where the posts will actually sit, not just the general property line.

2. Subtract Your Gates

Since gates take the place of full fence panels, you need to remove that space from your total.

  • Measure the width of the gates you plan to install (standard walk-through gates are often 4 or 5 feet; drive-through gates are wider).

  • Formula: Total Linear FeetTotal Gate Width = Fence Run.

3. Enter Your Dimensions

Now, head to our calculator and enter your Fence Run total. You will also need to select your desired Panel Type.

Standard Choice: Most of our heavy-duty panels come in 8-foot width.

4. Get Your Results

The calculator will divide your total distance by the panel width.

  • Round Up: If the calculator says you need 15.4 panels, always round up to 16. You’ll need that extra material for cuts and corners.

  • Post Count: Don’t forget that you typically need one post per panel, plus one extra to “cap off” the very end of the fence run. Our Calculator will show you how many posts you need for your project.
